5 THINGS EVERY PLAYER SHOULD DO BEFORE A MATCH

Talent isn't enough. Use this five-step routine to enter every match focused, confident, composed and ready to perform.

01

Set One Clear Intention

Choose one controllable action for the match, such as scanning before receiving, communicating constantly or reacting quickly after mistakes.

“Today, I will play brave and demand the ball.”
02

Visualize Your First Five Minutes

Close your eyes and imagine yourself completing simple passes, winning your first challenge and moving confidently into the game.

See it. Feel it. Then perform it.
03

Control Your Breathing

Breathe in through your nose for four seconds and slowly breathe out for six seconds. Repeat five times to settle your body without losing intensity.

Calm body. Clear mind.
04

Use a Powerful Cue

Pick one short phrase that brings you back to your strongest mindset whenever nerves, pressure or doubt appear.

“Be brave.” “Next action.” “I’m ready.”
05

Commit to Your Response

Decide before kickoff how you will respond to mistakes. No dropped head, no arguing and no dwelling—reset and attack the next action.

Mistake → breathe → reset → next play.
